The JAL Filter is a low-cost water treatment technology for use at the household level – sustainable technology that is easily constructed from local materials and requires no chemicals or electricity.

The modular design is essentially a round cylinder, filled with one carefully graded layer of sand, a bioremediation supernatant water layer sits atop the sand where a biofilm is created that further filters the water of harmful microorganisms.

The filter removes 98% to 99% of all contaminating organisms and produces up to 30 litres of drinking water for families in developing countries.
